WHO AM I?

I'm Jessica—a writer, editor, researcher, and translator with a focus on texts about food, travel, and culture.

I founded Rolling Pen Studio to help food and beverage bloggers, chefs, entrepreneurs, and restaurateurs with their food-related writing and content. I also translate texts from French and Italian to English. As a foodie and Italophile and Francophile who has lived in Toulouse, Nice, and Siena—and has traveled and eaten extensively around the world—I would love to help make your book, menu, website, and more read smoothly in English to provide the glowing descriptions that your food and beverage products deserve!

I write reviews of the latest US-published cookbooks and food and travel memoirs for Booklist magazine. My published food and travel articles can be found in the bilingual newspaper L’Italo Americano. See more of my work here

I have more than twenty years of experience working as a librarian, performing research, writing, and engaging with the public regarding food, cooking, and culinary history. I have a BA in English and French from UC Berkeley, and have worked in book publishing, bookstores, and libraries since then.

Most importantly, I am passionate about food and can talk about anything from how to taste extra-virgin olive oil, why American “yams” are really sweet potatoes, and where to find the best pizza margherita worldwide.

Let’s chat to discuss your food content writing and translation needs! Drop me an email at jessica@rollingpenstudio.com.
